ambience in another collab with the Australian Venue Company
After nearly 25 years, the Darling Harbour icon has relaunched with a fresh new look
Everyone knows the Cargo Bar in Sydney. Pretty much anyone who has lived or lives in Sydney….heck, even if you have just visited for a few hours, you’ve probably got story here. Cargo is the ultimate Darling Harbour venue – from lunch to late night party, renowned for its vibe and atmosphere. And full of good times.
We were part of the refurb project, with the lighting tasked with amplifying the mood and injecting some playfulness. It called for a more modern touch with less decorative elements.

For the project we programmed colour light scenes (using Pineapple Tropical Retreat anyone?) CBUS control. Fixtures from the Australian-made Symphony Lighting range were utilised across the space. These included Suspended Panorama in vertical and horizonal, Decibel Linear in Suspended plus Surface Mounted versions, Bendable Medley and colour-changing Harmony. Another feature was the LIT Lighting Design Awards-winning Ensemble configuration (overhead luminaire in a zig-zag formation).
In the words of Broadsheet “It’s great to see one of Sydney’s longest-running bars doubling down on the fun, freshening itself up”
