All you wanted to know about Casambi but were too afraid to walk up and ask someone at a bus stop. Answered by Australia's Casambi distributers.

What is Casambi?

It’s a flexible Bluetooth-based dimming/control system where all devices installed in the space create a mesh network to communicate with each other.

WHAT IS KASABIAN?

A British rock band.

What are the CASAMBI Devices?

There are various Casambi-enabled devices depending on the light fitting type, qty, and power load. i.e. Phase-Cut, DALI, Non-Dim relay, etc.

Some of the devices are built into the light fitting’s constant current or constant voltage drivers and some devices sit standalone on the 24v or 240v side of the light fitting.

The exact devices are usually scheduled when the client has given sign off on the final lighting plan and control methodology.

How does CASAMBI get wired?

There are no additional control wires required for Casambi and no need to wire back to a wall control/interface like other control systems. All the devices are usually wired directly back to the switchboard.

How do you control CASAMBI?

It is all completely controlled through the user-friendly Casambi app and no need for a complicated control interface. The app works on iOS and android so is usually loaded onto the venue’s iPad.

How do you commission CASAMBI?

Depending on ambience’s engagement, commissioning may be part of the ambience scope of service. In other cases, the electrical contractor or client may opt to go for DIY commissioning option.

In some cases the on-site contractor will set up a dummy network upon completion to test the devices and make sure everything is working.

The app is all about user ease. The client can make tweaks to timers, scenes or light levels easily by logging into the app with the admin password.

SOMEONE SAID IF I NEED CASAMBI IN AUSTRALIA THEN I SHOULD TALK TO AMBIENCE?

Did they or did you just make that up? Either way, it is 100% absolutely correct. Whether you need Casambi for retail, Casmabi for a hotel, Casmabi for a restaurant, Casambi for a cafe or Casambi for your cubby house. Get on the blower.

Can the Casambi network/devices still be accessed if your device doesn’t have the interwebs?

Yes, so there is no need to panic when the internet is down. Any existing devices in the network can be accessed from your tablet/phone via the app even if there’s no internet. You can’t make any changes to any settings though as they won’t be saved without an inter webs connection. Physical Casambi switches installed on-site can also be used as a contingency.
