DIssh, Armadale. Lillie Thompson,
WATCH HOW WE USED CASAMBI LIGHTING CONTROL TO ACHIEVE FIT ROOM MAGIC

The collab with Brahman Perera for Dissh, Armadale features a mix of innovative illumination ideas. Squiz the video below.

How good is testing your clothes under different real-world scenarios before you hit the town? Let me answer. It’s real good. So good, we spoke to ambience‘s  designers Helia Akbari and Sharlene Jayawardena about how they did it for Dissh.

Hello ladies- tell me about the project, but give it to me straight up, like I’m ChatGPT. Thanks.

The design intent for the lighting at Dissh Armadale was to create a subtle, clean, and directional lighting scheme that aligns with the brand’s minimal, modern aesthetic. The primary focus of the lighting strategy was to highlight the product only, deliberately avoiding the illumination of circulation areas.
The brand expressed a strong interest in lighting flexibility, specifically the ability to adjust the colour temperature to suit different moods or client preferences. We went to site and experimented a lot to figure out the best ways to translate the brief to ‘lighting design language’.

The result was to combine tunable ceiling lights and mirror lights (LED behind mirrors) to create unique and interactive fitroom experiences. Combining intensity, colour temperature and direction to create the right mood, we created four scenes:

  • Natural: Uses more ceiling light, brighter for a daytime look.
  • Golden Hour: Less ceiling and more directional light coming from the front mirrors, generating a warmer amber colour,
  • Signature: Is unique to the brand, which is an intermediate combination of all three scenes.
  • After Dark: Cooler temp, less intensity and dimmed – but enough so the clientele can see themselves.

How was that?

That was great ladies. Thank you.

To make the customer experience even better, the team also focused on making the transition between the scenes happen smoothly, by gradually adjusting the levels and light sources.

We’d like to give a big shout out to the team at Dissh, across store development, marketing and also at the Armadale location.
