Utilising illumination to heighten the experience at the Claremont Hotel

Step inside the lounge, that’s inside the rooftop bar, that’s inside the beachside pub, that’s inside the restaurant… that’s inside the hotel.
Lighting design was integral to the Claremont Hotel’s success, helping create an all-encompassing mesmerising assembly of settings within the single location.
We adopted a common architectural language (including integrating lighting into fixtures) through cutting-edge Bluetooth and the application of consistent color temperatures. A tailored design that sees varying lighting design strategies executed across a plethora of rooms, making one feel as if they’re experiencing & discovering multiple venues.
Although there are multiple ‘mini venues’ within the one location, illumination consistency is extremely important in hospitality lighting, so we had to painstakingly make sure that they were uniform, a mammoth challenge.
Working with a heritage-listed venue brought about many other challenges including leaving ceilings untouched, so we had to design custom fixtures to fit the existing conditions. The design of bespoke luminaires also extended to other areas including lamps on tables.
