St. Peter JULIAN'S CHURCH LIGHTING IN SYDNEY

ambience had the privilege of working on a church-lighting project that was a very technical, but ultimately rewarding, job for St. Peter Julian’s Church in Sydney.
Our brief was to make the famous mosaic feature look as if daylight was pouring in through the cross and filtering throughout. This beautiful mosaic feature was created in the Fifties by a renowned mosaic artist, but something was always missing.
The light.
It was a tricky task because there was just a dark void behind it with no natural daylight. There was also a huge amount of grout, and the mosaic glass was very thick, making it hard to penetrate with light. Part of solving the problem was using the ambled LED system on dimmers – and the result looks great.
We’d like to give a special thanks to Fr. Pat for giving us the opportunity to test ourselves on such a specialised, yet fun, project.
