say watt.com.au was created by us at ambience to give architects, interior designers, builders, students – basically anyone who is interested in lighting – a fun little brief and basic guide and overview of lighting and its possibilities. It first started as a small zine ‘Say Watt‘ that we’d hand out. Its popularity and requests has prompted us to create this online archive. We’re also very happy to see it’s already been nominated for the awwwards and Site of the Day at the CSS Design Awards.

Say Watt features Andy Murphy‘s fantastic and kooky illustrations with a few little animations thrown in around the place.

Currently the site briefly covers lighting basics, retail lighting, hospitality lighting and residential lighting with tips and insights covering everything from using lighting to make people look younger, displaying products, plus all those things we often neglect. Things like how the right restaurant lighting will dictate how successful one’s Tinder date is.
