NEW PROJECT: MARCS DONCASTER

We were lucky enough to be commissioned by Larry Hone at Websterholdings to design a feature lighting concept for the newly-themed Marcs stores.
Elegance was a key objective to the pendant, with a touch of the Marcs aesthetic. The concept was developed using hand-blown glass from Philip Stokes in Richmond, Melbourne. Philip made the glass extrusions to specification of our luminaire designer Liam.
The project was extra-special for us as we got to collaborate with local designers, fabricators and artisans to create the finished job. This feature was to tie into the new shop layout, theme, trends and space.
Marcs key aesthetic is radius’ using timber/veneers finishes. Liam designed a 50mm CNC router cut veneer layered cap for the pendant that Philip glass sleeved over and suspended from, the glass was then pinned with stainless steel screws.
The lighting source was a striking black flex with carbon filament lamp, finished off with locally spun lamp covers. The lamps were set on a 15% Dimming system to extend the lamp life as well as the light aesthetics.
In total, there are nine pendants uniquely laid out and arranged to form a planned cluster.
Marcs Doncaster is home of the first installation. So when you’re in there to check out their latest range, take a look at what has been a fantastic collective project.
