LULULEMON HIGHPOINT - WHERE INSPIRATION MEETS PERSPIRATION

One of the best things about being able to work on a creative project is the interesting research, ideas and problem-solving. The new lululemon athletica store at Highpoint was no exception.
It really was fascinating, delving into the local history for inspiration, from the waterfront parks and native wildlife to the historical architecture right through to the region’s indigenous past.
And not only was it great to work with the team at lululemon athletica again, whose vast range of high quality yoga and lifestyle products set the benchmark in the leisure and exercise market, but it was extra-special for Liam – our luminaire designer – who got to utilise his boat-building background in handcrafting personalised features for the project.
So, with the local Maribyrnong history as one of the driving influences to create the look and feel of the store, a strategic lighting plan was drafted and executed. To do so, we used a combination of flood fixtures and narrow beams to wash the different fabric, but also to let the hero products actually be the hero and create a highlight.
We also included feature VM pieces, including a neon projection board and a colour-shifting window sign that ultimately give the store a local feel with a real raw honesty. Products used on the job included:
- Kiss metal halide track light
- Jianco Jnr metal halide track light
- Sede metal halide downlight
- BTR LED downlight
- ambience metal halide downlight
We hope you enjoy it as much as we did, not only producing it, but also being able to take walks along some of the wonderful local waterfront spots in the name of research and inspiration.
